I hate that I have to ask this since I consider myself a part of the LGBT-Q community, but what does the asterisk mean at the end of words such as Trans and Queer? I.e., Trans* and Queer*?
There is no reason to hate yourself. Questions are important. Always. Plus we both know that you aren’t given an instruction manual on life, let alone LGBTQ* life.
Many people (myself included) use the asterisk (*) as a way of including everyone and all titles not represented by LGBTQ/transgender. Language is limiting and always changing, the asterisk allows many a way to show inclusion and solidarity.
(You are welcome to come off of Anon if you’d like to talk one-on-one.)
